Questions from my Daughters – What is Frost?

While driving to preschool I did my best to try to discuss to my child that frost condensation (water) that freezes on items and plants. Im not exactly sure that she rather understood my explanation, but she stated, “thanks, Dad” anyway. All that to state, the conversation triggered me to search for some better explanations of what frost is..
Where Does Frost Come From? is a SciShow Kids videos through which trainees can find out how the ideal mix of cold temperatures and moisture can make frost appear on plants. Students can also learn why in some cases frost appears to simply disappear while other times you can plainly see frost melting.

On my phone I keep a list entitled “Questions from my Daughters.” Whenever they ask a concern that is fascinating to them and is one that I have not considered for several years, if ever, I add it to the list. Todays addition to the list came from my four-year-old who asked, “whats frost?” when I told her that what she saw on our lawn Wednesday early morning was frost and not snow..

For an older audience, What is Frost? described by MET Office – Weather provides a short summary of the conditions that create air, hoar, ground, and lawn frost. (Note for my American audience: the video lists temperature levels in Celsius).
