What’s Onomatopoeia Mean? – Another Question from My Daughters

After dinner and my somewhat unsuccessful description of onomatopoeia, I turned to YouTube to search for a video that may help my children better understand what onomatopoeia is. Thats where I discovered this short and charming video about onomatopoeia. Ill warn you, the song is sort of catchy (if youre a five-year-old)..

Every night my children (ages 4 and 5) ask us all kinds of intriguing questions. Some of them are about things that I have not thought about in a long time. Some of them arent easy to respond to in a way that they can understand.

On an associated note, Next Vista for Learning hosts a great video explanation of onomatopoeia. The video was produced by a high school trainee for among Next Vistas numerous trainee video development contests.
