In this 3-course certificate program, you’ll develop practices that support building equity for all learners; expand the use of language and strategies to increase your teaching effectiveness; and obtain the tools needed to engage in age-level appropriate, critical conversations about race and racism. Non-degree Certificate: English Language Learners
In this 3-course certificate program, you will develop strategies using the Validate-Affirm-Build-Bridge (VABB) framework to first acknowledge and honor your students’ diverse experiences, then build a bridge to rigorous academic and social standards. You’ll explore the importance of teaching academic language while implementing different scaffolds, vocabulary, and background knowledge activities. Educators will also examine specific ways to help ELs grow academically, socially, and emotionally that will empower them to achieve learning success.
