Primary vs. Secondary Sources

The Minnesota Historical Society uses a wonderful video on the topic of secondary v. primary sources. By watching the brief video trainees can discover what a makes a resource a secondary or main source. The video provides a handful of examples of each in addition to a description of what makes the example a primary or secondary source. This is probably the very best video that I have seen discuss the differences between main and secondary sources.

A number of times today I have blogged about using main sources in
history lessons and or
research study lessons. That has reminded me of a couple of good videos that can help trainees understand the distinctions between secondary and primary sources..

The video is intended to help elementary school trainees understand the difference in between main and secondary sources. The video uses some clear examples of each type of source and how those sources can be utilized in the research and writing process.
