Earlier this month, the AICTE– in line with arrangements of the new National Education Policy (NEP) that requires education in ones native tongue as far as possible– allowed engineering colleges to use BTech programs in 11 local languages (Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Malayalam and Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi and Oriya).
