Previously this month, the AICTE– in line with provisions of the brand-new National Education Policy (NEP) that requires education in ones mom tongue as far as possible– allowed engineering colleges to use BTech programmes in 11 regional languages (Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Malayalam and Bengali, Assamese, Punjabi and Oriya).
