NEET-UG topper Tanishka scored 99.50 percentile in JEE Main, 98.6% in CBSE Class 12 exams

Tanishka NEET Topper 2022: Rajasthan’s Tanishka is the first candidate from the OBC-NCL (read: OBC-Non Creamy Layer) category to have topped the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2022 nationally. The All India Rank (AIR) 1 holder chose to study medicine because it’s a profession where one can establish oneself by “helping others.” She scored 98.6 per cent marks in her Class 12 Board exams and 96.4 per cent in Class 10.

Tanishka has not just excelled in NEET, but also performed well in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main in which she scored an impressive 99.50 percentile.

Although Tanishka scored the same as three other candidates this year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) did not jointly award the first rank to all four. The testing agency, instead, deployed its new tie-breaker policy to award the first rank to Tanishka from Rajasthan followed by the second rank to Vatsa Ashish Batra from Delhi, the third position to Hrishikesh Nagbhushan Gangule and AIR 4 to Rucha Pawashe from Karnataka. Among the top 50 NEET 2022 rank holders, 16 are female candidates.

Tanishka’s parents are teachers at a government school, and this was the best Teachers’ Day gift she could have given them. She said that her parents have been a pillar of support, and were always in her corner even when she scored relatively less marks in tests. “They never put any pressure on me, and would always motivate me,” she said.

The topper believes in perseverance and used to devote six to seven hours a day to self-study. According to her, every NEET aspirant should prepare for the target from the very first day, and not at the last minute. “As the course progresses in the classroom, you will have to revise the previous studies again and again. You can make small notes topic-wise,” she said. She also added that one should never hesitate to ask questions.

Tanishka now aims to pursue MBBS from Delhi AIIMS, and wants to do a specialisation in cardio, neuro or oncology.
