Interview With Blended Learning Course Instructor, Lance Raabe

I think teachers who are interested in taking the Blended Learning courses need to understand I am presently in my 26th year as a class teacher, however like my student stated, I actually feel like a young instructor at heart. What is it about the Blended Learning course format that instructors like so much?
As the Blended Learning instructor, I evaluate instructors online coursework and read remarks about how our Teacher Wellness, Teacher Retreat, and Mindfulness courses have actually literally altered their lives! Whether its an instructor who took a Wellness course to heart and lost 60 pounds, or someone who took our Retreat course and has now devoted to “leaving school at school” and is working to be completely present at house, the tools we talk about are impactful. Our courses are all about the teachers and its safe to say we use the chat tool on Zoom and comprehend where the “mute” and “unmute” buttons are!

Most instructors wont know you have actually been teaching for Learners Edge for 15 years. What else do you believe teachers would like to understand about you and your mentor cred?
Hey Susanne! Just recently, among my trainees stated, “Mr. Raabe, youre actually a kid at heart, arent you !?” I think I am! I think instructors who are interested in taking the Blended Learning courses ought to understand I am currently in my 26th year as a class teacher, however like my trainee stated, I really seem like a young instructor at heart. Just recently, my wife said, “Youre an entertainer and mentor is your way of carrying out!” I delight in opportunities to teach teachers, and when Im not, Im behind a microphone as the announcer for Creighton University volley ball and basketball groups. Ive been informed I have a voice (and face) for radio.
As you know, the Blended Learning courses offered at Learners Edge consist of time on Zoom. The Zoom sessions give instructors the chance to get in touch with other teachers from across the United States (and occasionally, even other parts of the world!). What is it about the Blended Learning course format that teachers thus much?
Im persuaded that if a group of 20 instructors was scattered throughout a crowded space of 200 in a convention hall, they d find each other! The stories, successes, problems, questions, and yes, disappointments, are comparable (and often even the very same) for teachers from coast to coast.
In producing and creating the Blended Learning courses, we have learned that teachers enjoy the live, in-action, activities! Give us a taste of the active learning activities teachers will take part in.
The Blended sessions are all about activities! A few of the activities from different courses consist of a Best Chef Cooking Competition, Tai Chi, Yoga, a GooseChaseEDU contest, a Comedy Improv Workshop, Minute-To-Win-It Games, and much more!
Its been a tough year and were not out of the woods yet. In what methods do the Blended Learning courses support teachers psychological health, assist them in handling tension, and promote health?
As the Blended Learning trainer, I evaluate instructors online coursework and check out comments about how our Teacher Wellness, Teacher Retreat, and Mindfulness courses have actually altered their lives! Whether its a teacher who took a Wellness course to heart and lost 60 pounds, or someone who took our Retreat course and has actually now devoted to “leaving school at school” and is working to be fully present in your home, the tools we talk about are impactful. A lot of our courses ask instructors to assess where they are, where they d like to be, and how to get there.
The feedback from instructors informs us how much they value getting to understand other instructors from throughout the United States throughout the Zoom sessions. If instructors take a Blended course, exists time and chance for talking with other instructors in little groups, chats, or activities?
Have you ever been around a group of teachers who do not talk to one another?! Its an impossibility! Our courses are all about the instructors and its safe to state we make use of the chat tool on Zoom and comprehend where the “mute” and “unmute” buttons are! What I enjoy about the format is that we can see one another, connect in a meaningful method, and share the experience with a group that is purchased comparable objectives.
For teachers who desire to take Blended Learning courses once again this spring, winter season, or fall, do you understand if courses will be provided, and if so, the number of and what they will be?
Yes! Were providing 4 courses this fall! Intend on setting time aside on a few Wednesday evenings in September and October for “Get in the Game,” “The Stress Effect,” as well as 2 other favorites. In addition, we are thinking about offering a Blended Book Study in January where we will read, discuss, and determine how to use what we learn from the book to our professional practice. Educators, please let us understand if you have any book tips! (Lance.Raabe@learnersedge.com).
Please add anything else you d like teachers to understand about our sweet suite of Blended Learning courses we are offering beginning June 1st!
In a recent module reflection, an instructor said what she valued most about the Blended course was that it “didnt feel like a class.” The Blended Zooms are not a lecture or workshop where instructors are provided a set of questions and then asked to talk about in a breakout room. They are not “get and sit.” I d best describe the Blended courses as an experience, with every one unique!
