How this Texas district prioritizes SEL

In the 2018-2019 school year, to determine its students psychological health and wellness, New Caney ISD partnered with Panorama, an information collection system, to gather details from 10,000 trainees whose results highlighted considerable SEL deficits.

The Covid-19 pandemic might be on everybodys minds right now, however school districts faced another pandemic before the infection changed our world. School violence incidents such as the Parkland School shooting were increasing, and trainees psychological and physical wellness were at crucial levels.

The Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) states that SEL programs “offer a foundation for better change and academic performance as shown in more positive social habits and peer relationships, less conduct issues, less psychological distress, and enhanced grades and test scores.”
