Helpful New Table Options in Google Docs

The first new function that Im excited about is the choice to define that a table row not be divided at a page break. As is the case with nearly all updates to Google Workspace tools, this update is rolling-out over the next couple of weeks. Im already seeing the update in my personal account but I havent seen it in my Google Workspace for Edu account.

This week Google included a handful of useful
brand-new features for tailoring tables in Google Documents. A couple of the new functions are things that Ive desired for years..

The first new feature that Im excited about is the alternative to define that a table row not be split at a page break. Making that classification keeps the material of the cells in that row together instead of splitting it. Ive wanted this option for many years since Ive constantly needed to tinker with font size and spacing whenever Ive wished to keep a row from splitting..
Another brand-new feature that Ive desired for many years and finally got to utilize last night is a drag-and-drop choice for adjusting the order of rows and columns in a table. This is much simpler than copying and pasting cell content to move it into a various order in a table..
Some other new features of tables in Google Docs makes them act more like spreadsheets than simple tables. You can now pin rows to the top of a table and sort rows according to cell content..
Finally, theres a new sidebar menu for setting the residential or commercial properties of your table. This does not materially change the settings options, it just moves the menu..
Applications for Education.
This upgrade to tables in Google Docs ought to make it simpler for intermediate school and high school trainees to include easy data sets in things like science laboratory reports or school surveys.

As holds true with nearly all updates to Google Workspace tools, this update is rolling-out over the next number of weeks. Some users may see the brand-new features already and others may have to wait. Im already seeing the update in my personal account but I have not seen it in my Google Workspace for Edu account.
