Creating classroom community in a digital space

My teaching and tech abilities were going to be put to the ultimate test.

As Im showing on this past school year, I think its the greatest bond Ive ever constructed with a group of students, thanks in part to technology and the neighborhood structure that needed to initially take place in our virtual class. My objective for this post is to share strategies and pointers that worked well and assisted me nurture and grow that strong instructor to trainee relationship through a screen, in spite of the cumulative difficulties we dealt with.

One of my favorite parts of being a teacher is the sense of neighborhood that is produced with each new class of students. When asked to construct that very same sense of community with my students through a computer screen as we went into a range learning mode, my brain started to misfire. Are the trainees going to be engaged in their learning?

Dont Be Scared, Be Prepared

Have all of your tabs that you will be utilizing or sharing throughout your virtual lesson preloaded and ready to provide. The more you can be proactive and troubleshoot before you go live, the more effective and enjoyable your online session will be. You can set up different formats of seeing your virtual conference, however on the same screen, likewise see what you are providing.
