CBSE to consider performance of Class 10-12 to compute Class 12 results

THE ICSE FORMULA.

The CBSE said the “subject wise marks evaluated by the school for 2020-2021 must be within a variety of +/- 5 marks obtained by the students in the school in the subject in the reference year”, and that the “the general typical marks for the school evaluated in 2020-2021, for all the topics, ought to not surpass the total average marks gotten by the school by 2 marks in the particular reference year”.

The chosen year will be the reference year for the school,” he stated.

Ending unpredictability over results of the Class 12 board evaluations hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, the CBSE informed the Supreme Court Thursday that marks for the theory component will be determined according to a 40:30:30 formula based on the students performance in Classes 12, 11 and 10, respectively.

This is what Attorney General KK Venugopal informed the bench– CBSE Controller of Examination Sanyam Bhardwaj likewise stated this in his affidavit– regarding the evaluation formula:.

The bench of Justices A M Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari, while specifying that there was no question of reversing its earlier decision to accept cancellation of the Class XII board tests by the CBSE owing to the Covid-19 situation, accepted the CBSE and ICSE plans for examining results of trainees on the basis of their efficiency in Classes XII, XI and X.

In the affidavit, Bhardwaj said that to standardise the marking, the “total marks awarded must remain in consonance with the past performance of the school in Class XII Board Examinations”.

But the bench stated “we have actually already accepted the decision taken by the concerned Boards to cancel XII standard assessment and had placed it on record on the previous date”. It stated “in any case, the trainees, who wish to appear in the evaluation for improvisation of their marks, will get that chance under the plan” and “that looks after the issue of such trainees represented by Mr Vikas Singh”.
