Applications for the Vernier Engineering Award are due by February 15, 2021, and the winner will be announced on the Vernier site and Vernier social media channels in March 2021. To go into, teachers need to finish an online application and produce a short video that briefly explains how they are using Vernier products and what engineering principles or practices are being taught utilizing them.
” We are committed to supporting educators in every way possible as they work to establish the next generation of researchers and engineers,” stated John Wheeler, CEO of Vernier Software & & Technology.” The Vernier Engineering Award is one way to recognize educators for their ingenious use of data-collection innovation– whether it is being utilized in the classroom or from another location– as well as share their best practices with others.”
Vernier was founded by a former physics instructor and employs educators at all levels of the company. With around the world distribution to over 150 nations, Vernier data loggers are utilized by teachers and trainees from elementary school to university. Vernier technology-based services boost STEM education, boost knowing, construct trainees critical thinking abilities, and support the science and engineering practices detailed in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
Applications will be evaluated by a panel of Vernier specialists based upon innovation, the engineering principles being taught, and the ease by which other teachers can use the task in their class. The winner will receive $1,000 in money, $3,000 in Vernier products, and $1,500 towards costs to participate in an upcoming National Science Teachers Association (NSTA) STEM conference or an upcoming American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) conference.
