Yes, the amount of research should be based on the students age and grade level. As most Kindergarten-3rd grade teachers are self-contained, it needs to be fairly basic to provide math homework one night, checking out or spelling one night, etc to avoid overwhelming 5 to 8-year-olds. If instructors are imaginative with assignments and in communicating the function of the assignment, trainees should not become frustrated or bored. Those are my goals as a fourth-grade teacher. I see homework to extend learning. Would I assign 30 mathematics issues to trainees who I know would fight with them, or to trainees who have shown their understanding of the ability? No, in those cases, it is my task as the instructor to customize the tasks.
Our textbook points out it can take 24 repeatings of an ability for a trainee to reach 80% proficiency. Kohn points out how students may become much better at keeping in mind, but not thinking. I see this as 2 different things; we require students to remember specific realities and then move on to utilizing those skills as thinkers and problem solvers.
