5 ways to foster family engagement in your district

The COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent shift to hybrid and virtual learning left households and educators with crucial discoveries, consisting of the realization that household engagement and home-school communication are critical to trainee success.

Communication does not equivalent connection. There do exist a number of programs and technology tools to assist schools harness the “untapped capacity of families.” When incorporated within robust household engagement strategies, these programs and tools serve to establish households and educators as partners in supporting trainees and student success.

One-way interaction falls flat, and families need to be engaged with schools in order for schools to create and keep fair knowing environments for students, states Mahnaz R. Charania, PhD, a senior research fellow at the Christensen Institute and author of a brand-new report about reimagining family engagement. This engagement requires trust and reciprocity– simply sending info house in student knapsacks and out in electronic communications is inefficient.
